Tree surgeons have obvious health and safety risks involved in their job, and Essex Arb enlisted our health surveillance services to ensure that their staff were not being negatively impacted by these tasks. We provided audiometry, spirometry, HAVS and musculoskeletal assessments that could then be analysed by the Essex Arb health and safety team. Armed with this information, they could then assess how the work was impacting the health of their staff.

We also organised a health and wellbeing day for the Essex Arb staff, so they could learn ways to improve their overall health, and ask our professionals any personal health questions. The health and safety team requested that we carry out drug and alcohol testing as well, to ensure the staff were fit for work and were not putting themselves and others at risk through regular or habitual substance abuse.
